Senior Advisor Organisational Development

In partnership with our community, Environment Southland (Southland Regional Council) is responsible for the sustainable management of Southland's natural resources - our land, our water, our air and our coast. As a Regional Council we operate across a large geographical region which extends from Stewart Island to Fiordland.

The needs of our people, our communities and our environment are changing. We are navigating significant legislative and policy changes that are reshaping the way we deliver. This newly created role is focussed on driving cultural and capability shifts to deliver on our vision of Te taurikura o Murihiku - A thriving Southland. As Senior Advisor Organisational Development you'll collaborate with leaders and teams to design and implement organisational development solutions that help us deliver on our mission. You will be part of establishing a new function who are here to deliver an ambitious work programme, promote inclusive practices, and uphold Te Tiriti principles.

Focus of the role:

  • Design and delivery of organisational development initiatives that build capability and culture
  • Driving and Delivering learning, coaching, and workforce development plans
  • Coaching and supporting staff through change
  • Championing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all organisational development work
  • Monitoring and improving the impact of our work

What We're Looking For:

  • Tertiary qualification in organisational development, psychology, human resources, or similar, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years' proven experience in organisational development roles
  • Expertise in facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and embedding cultural change
  • Proven experience in managing change
  • Strategic thinking, innovation, and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong partnership and relationship management skills
  • Commitment to understanding and delivering on Te Tiriti o Waitangi specific to the Murihiku context
  • Experience in uplifting organisational performance

An initial offer of remuneration will be made within the range $102,240 - $107,920

Working at Environment Southland requires all of our staff to uphold the council's Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities as part of their day-to-day role. This might be through the appropriate delivery of functions through various legislation where Te Tiriti o Waitangi or partnering with mana whenua is required or upholding the commitments that our elected councillors have made to Ngāi Tahu ki Murihiku through the Charter of Understanding.
