At Environment Southland, we work alongside our community to manage Southland's land, water, air, and coast, from Stewart Island to Fiordland.
About the role:
The Team Leader GIS (Geospatial Information Services) contributes to the overall performance of the GIS Team by providing leadership to manage and develop Council's geospatial data for internal and external customers and mentor the GIS team.
Emphasis on:
- Developing and implementing a GIS roadmap and strategy in line with the Teams goals.
- Managing Council's relationship with external software and data suppliers
What you'll bring:
- Possess a relevant tertiary qualification - bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, geoscience, surveying, engineering or related field.
- At least seven years of GIS experience, preferably including team leadership experience.
- Skilled in ESRI products, including Enterprise, Desktop, ArcGIS Online and field applications.
- FME and python skills would be advantageous.
- Highly developed interpersonal, relationship management and customer service skills to liaise, consult, negotiate and influence a wide range of people at all levels within the organisation.
- Demonstrated planning, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, achieve required outcomes and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrate skills in problem-solving, developing and articulating integrated programs that provide effective outcomes to meet organisational requirements
- The ability to identify and innovate organisational strategies.
- Experience in implementing change management with the organisation.
- Ability to engage, inspire and influence people and work as a part of a collaborative team.

An initial offer of remuneration will be made within the range $109,260 - $115,330
