Aquatic Ecology Assistant

Invercargill, New Zealand

Summer Students Programme.

This role is a great introduction to the world of freshwater ecology and a way to get to know the wonderful organisms that call our waterways home. The role will be primarily field based, undertaking and supporting the summer monitoring programmes, including our summer biomonitoring, recreational bathing, and other river monitoring. It will also include some office and desk-based work. Attention to detail, data entry skills, confidence in and around waterways, and a keen interest in ecology are a must. You will also need a full drivers licence.

This position is available from November 2025 - February 2026. You are eligible to apply if you are currently enrolled in a tertiary institution or have graduated this year. All Summer Student roles are offered at a rate of $28.95 per hour and a 37.5-hour week.
