Asset Management Planner & Scheduler

In partnership with our community, Environment Southland (Southland Regional Council) is responsible for the sustainable management of Southland's natural resources - our land, our water, our air and our coast. As a Regional Council we operate across a large geographical region which extends from Stewart Island to Fiordland.

Working at Environment Southland requires all of our staff to uphold the council's Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities as part of their day-to-day role. This might be through the appropriate delivery of functions through various legislation where Te Tiriti o Waitangi or partnering with mana whenua is required or upholding the commitments that our elected councillors have made to Ngāi Tahu ki Murihiku through the Charter of Understanding.

Having recently undergone an organisational redesign to ensure that we have the right structure and resources in place to respond to the changing needs of our communities, and the unique environment that we operate in, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Asset Management Planner & Scheduler.

Emphasis is on:

  • Seeking and applying analysis and technical engineering knowledge to define, design and develop solutions and manage long-term infrastructure strategies that align with regional objectives and priorities
  • Investigating, reviewing, planning and delivering best value asset management plans and processes across the portfolio. This includes the formulation of new asset management systems and policies.
  • Contributing to the development of the programme of work for the Long-Term Plan and Annual Plan, including asset investigations and renewals.
  • Coordinating the development of operational Project schedules
  • Providing ongoing connection and monitoring support for operational delivery.
  • Scheduling, forecasting and supporting to organisation-wide and audit reporting requirements.
  • Working with and supporting operational teams with contract coordination and procurement planning.

Knowledge/Experience required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge to fulfil requirements of the key accountabilities specified for this position.
  • A degree in engineering, asset management or planning, environmental science, or a related field; or
  • 5 years' of experience in asset management, preferably within local government or a similar environment
  • 3-years of experience of project coordination ideally within infrastructure or construction or similar
  • Ability to manage projects and coordinate activities effectively
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex issues related to asset management
  • Practical experience of asset management systems
  • Highly accurate and keen eye for detail.
  • Full current driver's license (and the ability to drive a manual vehicle)

An initial offer of remuneration will be made within the range of $95,040. - $100,320.
