Regulatory Administrator - 12 month role

Invercargill, New Zealand

Reference: 6778241

In partnership with our community, Environment Southland (Southland Regional Council) is responsible for the sustainable management of Southland's natural resources - our land, our water, our air and our coast. As a Regional Council we operate across a large geographical region which extends from Stewart Island to Fiordland.

Working at Environment Southland requires all of our staff to uphold the council's Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities as part of their day-to-day role. This might be through the appropriate delivery of functions through various legislation where Te Tiriti o Waitangi or partnering with mana whenua is required or upholding the commitments that our elected councillors have made to Ngāi Tahu ki Murihiku through the Charter of Understanding.

We are looking for an experienced, bright and energetic person with an eye for detail to assist in our Resource Management Division for a 12 month period. The successful applicant will have proven experience with database and document management systems. This position provides general administrative services to the Resource Management and Consents Divisions.

Great organisational skills and an ability to prioritise will be important. A relevant tertiary qualification in office management and/or office systems would be desirable.

You will need excellent communication skills to connect with the diverse range of people we support across Southland.

The primary focus of this role will be a variety of administrative tasks including responding to pollution hotline calls and managing the collation and entry of data to ensure its accuracy and completeness.

You will maintain proactive working relationships with other Council employees and external agencies. In return you will become part of an evolving team at Environment Southland, a workplace that is very supportive of environmental initiatives.

In return, Environment Southland can offer you a dynamic and friendly working environment, access to a wide range of technology, training and support, and the chance to make a real difference to Southland's natural environment.

Beaches, ski fields, 4 out of 10 of NZ Great Walks, national parks, lakes and fiords are all a short journey from Invercargill. Combined with reasonable house prices, short commutes and a relaxed pace of life, it all makes Southland a great place to live and work.

Please upload your CV and cover letter. Your cover letter will be a key part of our assessment process, so please highlight how your experience relates to the key skills required for this role.

An initial offer of remuneration will be made within the range $63,540-$67,070.
