Executive Assistant
Southland has a unique landscape, a close-knit and caring community and is home to some of New Zealand's most pristine and dynamic environments. We are central to Aotearoa's playgrounds of Queenstown, Fiordland, and the Catlins. As a regional council, Environment Southland is responsible for leading the sustainable management of Southland's natural, physical resources - water, land, air and the coast. These resources are vitally important because they underpin both our regional economy and our quality of life.
Working at Environment Southland requires all of our staff to uphold the council's Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities as part of their day-to-day role. This might be through the appropriate delivery of functions through various legislation where Te Tiriti o Waitangi or partnering with mana whenua is required or upholding the commitments that our elected councillors have made to Ngāi Tahu ki Murihiku through the Charter of Understanding.
We are looking for an experienced Executive Assistant to join our busy support team. You will provide governance support to Council by ensuring that the proceedings and deliberations of Council's Committees, Working Parties and Liaison Committees are supported with meeting papers and recorded in an accurate and timely manner. You will also be responsible for supporting our busy General Manager's and their divisions in an efficient and effective manner.
To be successful in this role you will need to have
- exceptional administration and organisational skills
- a business qualification
- experienced in providing support to senior managers
- an understanding of the council environment/local government legislation
- ability to work in a busy environment and think on your feet
- minute taking experience
- you will thrive on change, challenge and collaboration.
You will be an effective communicator, know your way around the Microsoft suite and hold a full drivers license. You will be working in a team environment, and in your daily work you will need to exercise a degree of discretion, whilst having the ability to deal with conflicting demands on your time.
You will be rewarded with a competitive salary package, a vibrant and supportive working environment, and ongoing training.
If you are ready for a new adventure, looking for an opportunity to grow your career whilst enjoying all the lifestyle benefits Southland and Environment Southland offers, apply today.
