We have a lifestyle that is second to none, with easy access to beaches, rivers, lakes, ski fields, national parks and first-class sports facilities. We pride ourselves on the support we give our team to ensure a good work‑life balance is a priority. And with affordable real estate, short commutes and a great range of schools on offer there is something for everyone!

Our Community and Engagement group has a crucial role to play in promoting positive on-the-ground environmental change in the community. You'll be working to support the team with the many projects that are being delivered alongside our community. You'll have a tertiary qualification or a minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience and have experience at maintaining and reviewing project plans, project finances and producing effective presentations, status reports and other project artefacts. Strong inter-personal skills will allow you to bring calm and order to busy times, and you'll love looking for solutions. Experience working for a Council or in community projects will really round off your application.

Skills required:

  • Familiar and comfortable with tikanga māori.
  • Flexible and highly adaptable to ever-changing priorities.
  • Ability to share complex ideas to a variety of audiences and build and maintain rapport with others.
  • Accurately and clearly convey timely information and ideas, using a style and manner of presentation appropriate to the target audience.
  • Sound judgement and initiative.

We are looking forward to you helping us as we link more closely to the community with our work. You'll directly contribute to our mission of "Working with Southland's community to improve the environment" and we hope you'll enjoy the connection this role brings. There are benefits of working for an organisation that provides a positive and supportive work culture, engaging and diverse colleagues, and the beauty of Southland's great outdoors at your back door.
